Rakan Karajeh
Hi, I'm Rakan. I'm a chemical engineering student at Waterloo, based in Toronto.
I work on the operations side of things: supply chains, factory floors, and small businesses that run on spreadsheets.
Right now, I'm a Supply Chain Intern at PepsiCo, where I work on fill rate. My focus is external plan communication: making sure the supply plan agreed inside the building is the same plan our external partners are executing against, so fewer orders ship short.
Before that I was a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Cleveland Range, redesigning how 800+ parts were stored and writing the VBA tools operators used every shift. On the side I run Pure Property Cleans, a cleaning company I co-founded in the GTA.
You can look through my experience and projects, or read Field Notes, where I write down what I'm learning about operations, what went wrong, and what I'd do differently.

2026
PepsiCo·Supply Chain Intern·Current
Fall 2026 work term on the supply chain team. My project is fill rate: the share of what customers ordered that we actually ship, in full and on time.
- Working on external plan communication: how the supply plan gets shared with co-manufacturers, carriers and customer-facing teams, so everyone is executing against the same numbers.
- Tracing fill-rate misses back to where the plan and the partner's view of it diverged, instead of treating each short shipment as a one-off.
- Building the reporting that shows fill rate by customer and SKU week over week, so the team can see which fixes are moving the number.

2026
Cleveland Range (Welbilt)·Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Jan to May 2026 on the floor of a commercial kitchen equipment plant.
- Redesigned the storage layout for 800+ manufacturing parts in AutoCAD and relocated them, improving stocking and retrieval efficiency by 15%.
- Built a VBA workforce allocation tool for 150+ positions that reassigns operators during absences, cutting production bottlenecks by 17%.
- Designed and fabricated a custom storage system for a 150 lb unit with drawer mechanisms, crane access and counterweight balance, saving $2,000 in outsourcing.
- Built a 20-sheet VBA production tracking system that follows every unit from production through shipping, delivery and payment.
- Introduced operator task logging that enabled time studies and performance standards, lifting productivity 5% and efficiency 6%.

2026
Pure Property Cleans·CEO & Founder·Current
A residential and commercial cleaning company I co-founded in the Greater Toronto Area in January 2026.
- Generating four-figure monthly net profit, with projected year-end revenue of $70K+ at about 40% margin.
- Built the website and an Excel VBA system that tracks expenses, revenue, profit, subscriptions and upcoming bookings.
- Run operations end to end: coordinating cleaners, managing clients and keeping service consistent across jobs.

2026
Fill Rate Tracker·Supply chain·Current
Reporting built during my PepsiCo term that shows fill rate by customer and SKU week over week, and flags where the external plan and the shipped reality diverged.
-
2026
Pure Property Cleans·Company·Current
A cleaning business in the GTA. I built the website and a VBA back office that tracks bookings, subscriptions, expenses and profit, so I can run the company from one workbook.

2026
Workforce Allocation Tool·Excel VBA
Reassigns operators across 150+ positions when someone is absent, based on who is qualified for what. Reduced production bottlenecks by 17% at Cleveland Range.
-
2026
Production Tracker·Excel VBA
Twenty integrated sheets that follow every unit through production, shipping, delivery and payment, with operators logging stage completion so the data supports time studies.
-
2025
Hydrogen Electrolysis Generator·Innovative design
A wet-cell HHO generator running at about 12 V. 316L stainless steel electrodes in a Schedule 40 PVC housing, built to be durable and easy to replicate.
-
2025
Plant Watering Automation·MATLAB, Arduino
Soil-moisture sensors trigger the pump only below a target threshold, and light sensors hold off watering during peak evaporation. About 20% less water used.
-
2025
CO₂ Safety Monitor·MATLAB, Arduino
Measures CO₂ concentration in enclosed spaces and sounds an alert past the safety threshold. Readings collected and analysed in MATLAB and the Arduino IDE.
Plus the storage system, floor plans and a few smaller fixtures built on the shop floor.

October 2026
fill rate is a communication problem
why most short shipments start weeks earlier, when two teams were looking at two different plans
